AirLink® EX400
Right-sized 5G for Industrial and Commercial IoT
The Semtech AirLink EX400 is a compact, ultra-low-power 5G RedCap router optimized for commercial IoT deployments. It provides efficient, reliable connectivity for distributed assets in indoor or protected outdoor environments, with exceptional power efficiency ideal for solar, battery, or remote-powered applications.
Designed for long-term IoT longevity, the EX400 leverages 5G RedCap (Reduced Capability) technology for cost-effective, power-optimized performance where full eMBB 5G is unnecessary.
It features a semi-rugged metal housing (IP30 rated), dual Ethernet ports, and integrated AirLink OS for advanced management and edge intelligence.
Right-Sized 5G RedCap Connectivity for Commercial IoT
The Semtech AirLink EX400 is a compact, semi-rugged 5G RedCap router purpose-built for commercial IoT deployments. It provides reliable, cost-effective connectivity for distributed assets in retail, manufacturing, agriculture, and remote infrastructure, delivering real-time monitoring of payment systems, sensors, and equipment without the expense or complexity of full 5G eMBB solutions.
The EX400 offers 5G RedCap connectivity combined with LTE Cat-4 fallback, ensuring future-proof and efficient performance. Its ultra-low power consumption of just 840 mW idle makes it ideal for solar, battery, or remote-powered installations. The compact semi-rugged enclosure carries an IP30 rating and shares the same footprint and mounting as the AirLink RV series, allowing for seamless 5G migration.
This router features dual Gigabit Ethernet ports, optional Wi-Fi 6, a USB-C interface, and two antenna elements, bringing advanced 5G capabilities to previously hard-to-reach equipment. It includes new-generation advanced networking features, edge computing support via Docker, policy-based routing, and QoS. Security is defense-in-depth with built-in capabilities, while management is handled through the included one-year AirLink Complete subscription for cloud-based control. Optional upgrades to AirLink Premium or on-premise options like AirLink Manager/AM/AMM are available with separate licenses.
The AirLink EX400 is particularly well-suited for digital signage, smart machines, manufacturing environments, and smart agriculture applications, where it delivers accessible 5G RedCap intelligence to distributed IoT assets with low power requirements, rugged reliability, and simplified cloud or on-premise management for scalable, long-term deployments.
