The Semtech AirLink RX400 is the industry’s most power-efficient rugged 5G RedCap router, purpose-built for mission-critical connectivity in extreme, remote, or off-grid environments such as utilities, oil & gas, substations, wellheads, smart cities, and critical infrastructure. It combines right-sized 5G RedCap performance (up to 226 Mbps downlink / 120 Mbps uplink theoretical) with LTE Cat-4 fallback, enabling solar- and battery-powered deployments where traditional high-power 5G cannot operate, while modernizing legacy SCADA systems via built-in RS-232 serial and edge computing.
This ultra-rugged router features an IP64-rated sealed metal enclosure, MIL-STD-810H compliance for shock, vibration, thermal shock, and humidity, and wide operating temperature (-40°C to +70°C), ensuring maximum reliability in challenging outdoor conditions. Key interfaces include single 1 Gbps Ethernet, single/dual RS-232 serial, dual-band GNSS, 1 GPIO, USB Type-C with power delivery, and optional 1×1 Wi-Fi 6 (dual-band, up to 600 Mbps, 16 clients). It supports dual Nano-SIM redundancy, Semtech Cognitive Wireless, advanced networking (IPv4/IPv6, NAT, QoS, policy routing), defense-in-depth security (stateful firewall, IPsec VPN with FIPS 140-2 Level 1, AES-256), and Docker-based edge computing for custom applications.
Management is handled via AirLink OS with included AirLink Complete (1-year subscription): cloud-based AirLink Management Service (ALMS) for remote monitoring, configuration, security, 24/7 support, extended warranty (up to 5 years), and critical firmware updates through at least 2030. Optional AirLink Premium adds advanced reporting and advance replacement; on-premise options (AM/AMM) require separate licenses.
